Robert M. 'Bob' Wheeler, 81, of Finksburg

Robert M. “Bob” Wheeler Sr., 81, of Finksburg, died Monday, Sept. 7, 2015 at the Lorien Nursing Home in Taneytown.

Born July 14, 1934, in Baltimore County, he was the son of Edgar M. Wheeler and Elizabeth L. Rohde Wheeler. He was the beloved husband of Judith Mitcheltree Wheeler.

He was a graduate of Franklin High School Academic Class of 1952. He served honorably in the Korean War as a pilot with the U.S. Air Forces Strategic Air Command. He graduated from the University of Maryland in 1959 and the University of Baltimore in 1962 with his law degree. He was a past member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce and the Parent Teachers Association. He held his Commercial Pilot License, and Real Estate License, was a member of both the American Bar Association and the Maryland Bar Association. He was a member of the American Polled Hereford Association and owner of Churchill Farms, operating and raising beef cattle. He was principal of Maryland Property Group in Ellicott City, a real estate development and management company. He maintained a general law practice specializing in acquisition and development work.

Some of his projects include Twin Oaks, Aberdeen; Halfway Manor Apartments, Hagerstown; Uplands Apartments and the Brokerage, a retail and office space at the Inner Harbor, both in Baltimore; Foxchase of Alexandria, Va.; Brunswick House in Brunswick, Md.; Golden Sands Condominiums in Ocean City; and Lakeland Heights in Gamber.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children and their spouses: Robert Jr. and Laurie Wheeler of Lorton, Va.; Kimberly and Andrew Pierson of Finksburg; and Amy Elizabeth and Michael Liebel of Alpharetta, Ga.; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his siblings: Gerald G. Wheeler and Joyce Cronhardt.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held Friday, Sept. 25 at 10 a.m. at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, P.A. 11605 Reisterstown Rd., Owings Mills. Interment Private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the University of Maryland, Carroll County 4H Chapter, 700 Agricultural Dr., Westminster, MD 21157.
