Smokey Bear to Visit the Piney Run Apple Festival
The Carroll County Forestry Board, Piney Run Park, and the Piney Run Recreation and Conservation Council bring Smokey Bear to South Carroll

Back in 1986, the Piney Run Recreation and Conservation Council organized its first fall festival. Ever since then, the Piney Run Apple Festival has become a destination for all things apple and community in South Carroll. This year, Smokey Bear will be stopping by to celebrate the festival and his 75th Birthday.
The Carroll County Forest Conservancy District Board will be helping Smokey Bear greet visitors starting at 12noon on Saturday, September 28th. Members of the forestry board will have information to share about preventing wildfires and other forestry-related outreach programs available to the community.
“The festival is a fun filled day celebrating our park, our community, and apples," said Piney Run Naturalist Max Bukowitz. There will be arts and crafts vendors, pumpkin painting, live music and demonstrations, wagon rides, and of course, apple dumplings and fritters for sale. The festival will take place on the 800-acre park located at 30 Martz Road in Sykesville. For detailed information about entry fees and times, visit www.pineyrunpark.org or call 410.795.6043.
