Snow Emergency Lifted In Carroll County

Carroll County has lifted its snow emergency declaration.

CARROLL COUNTY, MD — It was officially an emergency in Carroll County when snow started coming down. At 1 p.m. on Friday, Carroll County declared a snow emergency. The measure was lifted at 5 p.m.

A snow emergency is a designation by the Maryland State Police and Maryland State Highway Administration that means people may not park on marked "snow emergency routes." Drivers must also have tires on their vehicles that are appropriate for snow.

Harford County also declared a snow emergency, from 4 to 10 p.m. on Friday.

The region was under a winter weather advisory for 1 to 2 inches of snow from 1 to 7 p.m. on Friday. Drivers were advised to expect limited visibility and slippery roads.

There was 0.5 inch as of 3:30 p.m. in Oakland and Eldersburg had 0.3 inch as of 4 p.m., based on preliminary data reported to the National Weather Service.

Schools in Carroll, Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Caroline, Cecil, Howard and Kent counties all closed early on Friday due to the weather.
