Troopers Save Suicidal Woman at Liberty Reservoir
A woman was saved from Liberty Reservoir, where Maryland State Police said she was found unconscious underwater.

CARROLL COUNTY, MD — State troopers saved a woman who was unconscious in Liberty Reservoir Monday after her husband reported she had sent him suicidal texts, according to Maryland State Police.
After 5 p.m., a man notified police that his wife sent him text messages saying she was contemplating suicide. She was near the Baltimore-Carroll county line in the area of the reservoir when she sent them, police said.
Trooper First Class Adam Fiorentino and Corporal Brett Stoops of the Westminster Barrack responded, saw her vehicle on the shoulder of MD 26 and split up to search the wooded area between the water and the road.

Fiorentino found the woman unconscious underwater in the reservoir and carried her up a hill, where emergency medical personnel awaited on the shoulder of the road. The woman was still breathing and was taken to a local hospital, where police said Tuesday she was expected to survive.
Through their life-saving actions, Fiorentino and Stoops "exemplify the commitment and dedication to duty exhibited by members of the Maryland State Police and allied law enforcement agencies every day,” First Sgt. J. Michael Knight, assistant commander of the Westminster Barrack, said in a statement.
