Winfield Baseball Team Wins Division Babe Ruth Championship
Winfield Green 13-15 team claims victory in Frederick County Babe Ruth National Red Championship game.

On Sunday, June 21st at the Thurmont Little League Complex, players from the Winfield Baseball Green team took the first two games in a three game series to claim the Frederick County Babe Ruth 13-15 National Red Division Championship. Winfield Green finished its regular season with 17 wins, 3 losses, and 1 tie, putting them in first place for the division. After winning 7-3 in the initial playoff round, the Winfield Green team advanced to play another Winfield team (Gray) for the Championship. The first game of the Championship series was a shutout with Winfield Green taking down Winfield Gray with a score of 10-0. The second game Winfield Green won 6-3 to clinch the Championship in two games.
The team was sponsored by Winfield Baseball Association, a youth baseball program of the Winfield Recreation Council. Winfield Baseball Association has teams from the instructional level to semi-pro including various travel programs.
Frederick County Babe Ruth consists of teams from Brunswick, Emmitsburg, Francis Scott Key, Frederick City, GVAA (Glade Valley Athletic Association), LOUYAA, Mountain Valley Baseball, Mt. Airy, Smithsburg, Thurmont, UMAC (Upper Montgomery Athletic Club), Urbana and Winfield.

This summer, Winfield Baseball Association will host the 2015 Maryland State Babe Ruth Tournament for the Senior Babe Ruth 16-19 division players. This tournament will take place between July 8 through July 13th, 2015 in Carroll County at Century High School and Lower Linton Elementary athletic fields.
