Woman Flown From Eldersburg House Fire Is Stable: Fire Marshal
Two people were hospitalized after a house fire Monday that started in the kitchen, officials said.
ELDERSBURG, MD — A woman was flown for treatment of burn injuries after fire broke out in her home in Eldersburg Monday afternoon, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal. Authorities reported she was in stable condition Tuesday morning.
The woman discovered the fire at her home in the 5500 block of Strawbridge Terrace at 2:07 p.m. on Monday.
First responders found fire coming from the front and back of the rancher, with two burn victims in the driveway, according to the Sykesville Fire Department.

Crews from the Sykesville Fire Department conducted an interior attack, advancing toward the kitchen, and requested mutual aid from Howard and Baltimore counties. Within 20 minutes, approximately 40 firefighters had brought the blaze under control, the fire marshal said.
A woman and man who lived at the home were hospitalized as a result of the fire, according to officials.

A medevac landed at Liberty High School to take the woman to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. She had sustained second and third-degree burns to her back and hands, according to the fire marshal.
A man in the home was taken by ambulance to Johns Hopkins Bayview, where officials said he was evaluated and released.
The fire began in the kitchen, but the cause remained under investigation Tuesday, the fire marshal said.
Officials said there was $100,000 in structural damage and $50,000 in items inside the home were also lost.
