Woodbine Bank Robbery Suspect Charged

The suspect in Friday afternoon PNC bank robbery was pulled over near Virginia, police report.

An Ohio man has been charged in connection with a bank robbery Friday afternoon in Woodbine, according to the Howard County Police Department.

Paul M. Scovronski Jr., 27, of Wintersville, Ohio, has been charged with armed robbery; robbery; theft from $10,000 to $100,000; and five counts of first-degree assault.

Police allege Scovronski went into the PNC Bank in the 15900 block of Old Frederick Road around 12:36 p.m. Friday with his face partly covered, showed he had a handgun and demanded money.

An employee gave the robber money, and the suspect drove away, authorities said.

After police broadcast the suspect vehicle description to nearby law enforcement agencies, state troopers pulled over Scovronski on US 340 near the Maryland-Virginia state line, officials reported.

Scovronski was the only person in the vehicle, according to police.

Officials said Monday he was being held at the Howard County Detention Center on $500,000 bond.
