Broken Water Main to Affect Homes, Mayfield Woods Middle School in Elkridge

Howard County Department of Public Works officials sent out an email alert Tuesday notifying residents of a broken water main in Elkridge.

The reported broken water main is at the 7800 block of Mayfield Avenue, and it also is affecting Red Barn Way, Well Water Way and Mayfield Woods Middle School.

Public works officials said in an email alert sent earlier Tuesday they are coordinating with county schools to “assure minimal impact on school operations” due to a water main leak. Water was shut down at Mayfield Woods Middle School at 1 p.m., according to an email alert.

The school is still open, public works employees said.

There are a total of 56 homes/business affected by the broken water main and the estimated restoration time is six hours.
