Hotel Fire In Jessup Under Investigation

JESSUP, MD -- Crews responded to a fire on Washington Boulevard/Route 1 in Jessup early Friday morning, officials said. Nobody was injured in the blaze, which officials said was contained to a hotel room in the 8000 block of Washington Boulevard.

Heavy smoke was showing from the second floor of the hotel when firefighters arrived around 12:45 a.m., according to authorities.

After 1 a.m., firefighters had knocked the blaze, according to the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services. The flames had not extended beyond the one room, and the fire marshal was investigating the cause as of Friday morning.
