BWI Accepting Bids for Hotel Attached to the Airport
The project, if completed, would allow travelers to commute from the hotel to the airport without driving or requiring taxi or shuttle rides

Following the lead of other major international airports throughout the United States, Baltimore-Washington International-Thurgood Marshall Airport is getting a new hotel adjacent to the terminal.
Airport planners have discussed the concept, in which a hotel would be directly attached to the primary airport terminal, for some time now, according to a report by WTOP.
“The goal is to provide a really high-level, high-quality hotel for our customers, including a number of other amenities like a restaurant and business facilities as well,” airport spokesman Jonathan Dean told WTOP.

As it stands, there are hotels surrounding the airport, but none directly linked to the airport. The proposed plan would position the hotel site behind the airport’s hourly parking garage, according to the WTOP report, which would allow travelers to commute from the hotel to the airport (or vice versa) without using a shuttle, taxi or other method of public transportation.
The bidding process to manage the project will conclude in the spring, and according to WTOP, whoever places the winning bid will have to design the hotel within Federal Aviation Administration guidelines, and will also have to ensure the new structure is out of the way of airline traffic.
