Deep Run Elementary One of 11 Schools Nationwide to Receive Grant
Funds Will Be Used For School's 2018-2019 Safety Patrol Program

Deep Creek Elementary School in Elkridge is one of eleven schools across the country, and the only Maryland school, to receive the 2017-2018 Charles M. Hayes Advancement Grant for their Safety Patrol program from the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety.
Established in 2006, the grant program is named after the president of the Chicago Motor Club, Charles M. Hayes, who founded the AAA School Safety Patrol in 1920 after several children at a school crossing were killed by a speeding car. The grants, at $500 each, provide schools with the needed funds to sustain and grow their safety patroller programs.
