Have you heard… Elkridge Travel Basketball is alive and well

Basketball, sports, youth

This past weekend was a success for the brand new Elkridge Youth Organization (EYO) boys travel basketball program. The 8th Grade (14U) and 7th Grade (13U) teams were crowned the champions of the Maryland Sharks “Hoopmania Tip-Off Classic” Basketball Tournament. Each won their respective division, going undefeated for the weekend.

But the highlight of the tournament most likely came in the form of the first ever wins for the 4th Grade (10U) teams. EYO fielded two teams in the 4th Grade (10U) division and the boys played hard under the bright lights and roaring crowds that come with tournament basketball.

Tournament basketball can shock anybody that hasn’t experienced it before. However, led by noteworthy Howard County travel basketball coach Bill “Nap” (Napolitano), the young guys did not disappoint. There is much more work to do for these guys but this weekend showed that they’re off to a good start.

Next up for the 8th Grade (14U) and 7th Grade (13U) teams is the AGame Supershootout Tournament this weekend where they will go up against some of the best teams in the Mid-Atlantic area. Teams from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia will compete against one another for what should prove to be an extremely competitive tournament.
