Santa Claus Visits Children at Seasons 52 Benefit for Grassroots
The Mall in Columbia supports annual fundraiser, student volunteers serve full house

Santa Claus met with dozens of boys and girls at the annual Breakfast with Santa at Seasons 52 restaurant at The Mall in Columbia. A full house welcomed the Jolly Old Elf who stopped at every table and chatted with youngsters and their family members on Dec. 1 and 8. Miss Julie, the Mall’s Family Fun Day entertainer, served as hostess of the breakfasts.
Breakfast with Santa was a benefit for Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center, Howard County’s 24-hour crisis intervention center and shelter of the homeless. Seasons 52 provided food and service without charge for the benefit, and The Mall in Columbia donated the services of Miss Julie and provided seasonal novelty items for attendees. Student volunteers from Howard County high schools served as greeters and wait staff. Over $4,500 was raised.

Grassroots also manages the county's emergency shelter for men, women and families who are homeless and serves as the single point of entry for the Coordinated System of Homeless Services. In addition, Grassroots operates the Day Resource Center in the Leola Dorsey Community Resource Center and manages the Cold Weather Shelter during the winter months.
