Weather Alert Issued for Howard County

Portions of Howard County are under a hazardous weather outlook as the remnants of Tropical Storm Bill churn through the region, according to the National Weather Service.

Scattered thunderstorms are possible Thursday afternoon and evening; a few thunderstorms may become severe with locally damaging wind gusts and large hail being the primary threat. The weather alert includes northwest, central and southeast Howard County.

Heavy rain is possible late Saturday and Sunday as the weather system passes through the area. Flash flooding is possible during this time, the Weather Service says.

Thursday: Scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 85. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Thursday night: Scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 70. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 88.

Friday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 65.

Saturday: Isolated showers, with thunderstorms after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 81. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday night: Scattered showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 70. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Sunday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 86. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
