World Designation Given To Elkridge Academy Hosting STEM Festival

Maryland International School has become an international baccalaureate world school at 3 levels and will host its fall STEM festival 10/12,

ELKRIDGE, MD — Maryland's first international baccalaureate world school will celebrate its new designation while hosting its third annual fall STEM Festival in Elkridge Saturday, Oct. 12. Maryland International School has been authorized as an international baccalaureate world school for primary, middle school and diploma programs, becoming the first school in the state to offer all three.

The STEM Festival draws more than 500 people to the private academy for the free event and will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 6135 Old Washington Road in Elkridge.


“Our leading-edge curriculum integrates the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum and STEM specific programs and pathways. We recognize the importance of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics to students in a globalized world and are excited to host our 3rd Annual STEM Festival,” said Rebekah Ghosh, executive director and head of school of MDIS in a statement. “We are thrilled that Gov. Hogan is joining us to celebrate our IB World School authorization.”
