Celebrate Mardi Gras In Old Ellicott City Feb. 6-7

Many businesses will hand out beads and offer specials. Face coverings are required.

ELLICOTT CITY, MD — Mardi Gras will be celebrated in Old Ellicott City Feb. 6-7 with NOLA-inspired food and drink, retail specials and sales at more than 70 establishments. While there will not be an annual scavenger hunt this year, many shops will be handing out beads to customers.

Visitors are asked to wear face coverings when attending the event and frequenting businesses. To view a list of businesses that will be handing out beads or offering specials visit Old Ellicott City's website.

The Mardi Gras season begins on Epiphany Jan. 6, also known as Three Kings Day. In other countries, the time between Epiphany and Fat Tuesday also is known as Carnival, according to the History Channel.
