Cops Fix Elderly Couple's Roof After Scammers Stole Their $33K
An elderly couple spent $33K to have their roof repaired but scammers took the money and didn't finish the job, so HoCo officers stepped in.
HOWARD COUNTY, MD — When Howard County police officers assigned to Ellicott City learned that an elderly couple in their coverage area had been scammed out of $33,000 and were left with an unfinished roof job, officers took action.
They hung up their duty belts and snapped on tool belts in order to fix the roof themselves. Thanks to help from a local roofing expert and with donations from The Home Depot, the officers spent time when they were off duty to repair the roof. In the meantime, they're still searching for the criminal who scammed the couple out of their money.
