Ellicott City Man Charged With Selling 'Dab,' Other Drugs

ELLICOTT CITY, MD — An Ellicott City man is behind bars on felony drug distribution and firearms charges after Howard County police officers last week found large amounts of THC oil, also known as “dab,” in his vehicle, the police said. During a traffic stop on Thursday, Feb. 21, the police arrested Alec Vazquez, 21, of Old Saint Johns Lane, and charged him with multiple counts of felony drug possession with intent to distribute, use of a firearm in a drug trafficking crime and related charges.

The police said they found cash and a large quantity of dab, or THC oil, in Vazquez's vehicle. Dab is highly concentrated THC, the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana, "and is significantly more potent," the police said.

In a search at his residence, police detectives found about 10 pounds of suspected marijuana, 75 grams of suspected THC wax, more than 100 vaping cartridges filled with suspected THC, a loaded shotgun and assault rifle, and thousands of dollars in cash, the police said.

A search at a second address in Westminster turned up 57 pounds of suspected marijuana, suspected hallucinogenic mushrooms, another loaded assault rifle, two more shotguns, a large amount of ammunition "and other evidence indicative of large-scale drug distribution," the police said.

The search was conducted by HCPD detectives and members of the Carroll County Drug Task Force.

Vazquez is currently being held without bond at the Howard County Detention Center, and more charges are pending.
