Ellicott City Man Faces Murder Charges In Wife's Death: Police

ELLICOTT CITY, MD — An Ellicott City man has been charged with first- and second-degree murder and assault after police say he killed his wife April 26 in their home. Police were called to the home located in the 3700 block of Spring Falls Court for a welfare check at approximately 3:40 p.m. and discovered Veronica Theresa McGinley, 60, dead. The cause of death is pending an autopsy.

While investigating the death, police detectives identified Ronald Scott McCandless, 61, as the suspect. Police found McCandless sitting in his vehicle in the 4000 block of Meadowbrook Lane in Ellicott City and took him into custody. Detectives continue to investigate the motive.
