How Many Howard County Residents Have Been Vaccinated: May 5
More than 53% of HoCo's population has received their first COVID-19 dose as of May 5, according to the Howard County Health Department.
HOWARD COUNTY, MD β As of May 5, more than half of Howard County residents (174,448 people or 53.6 percent) have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 132,888 people (40.8 percent) have been fully vaccinated. There have been 19,050 total coronavirus cases so far as of May 5 and there are 9,565 active cases.
Maura Rossman, health officer for the Howard County Health Department, shared that the county's average positivity rate stands at 2.81 percent and the new case rate is 9.34 per 100,000. 72 percent of Howard County residents age 16 and older have received at least one dose of vaccine and 51 percent are fully vaccinated.
"While disease is decreasing, it is still important that we continue to wear facial coverings indoors and when unable to physically distance outdoors, avoid large public gatherings and get tested when exposed or develop symptoms until everyone is vaccinated," Rossman said.
