The Howard County Human Rights Commission is now seeking nominations for its 2021 Human Rights Commission Individual, Student and Organization Awards, which honor exemplary citizenship, dedicated leadership and outstanding achievement that have made significant contributions in eliminating or eradicating discrimination, while advancing human and civils rights, in Howard County. The deadline to submit a nomination is Sunday, August 15th.

ELLICOTT CITY, MD – The Howard County Human Rights Commission is now seeking nominations for its 2021 Human Rights Commission Individual, Student and Organization Awards. Presented annually, these awards honor individuals and community organizations who through exemplary citizenship, dedicated leadership and outstanding achievement have made significant contributions in eliminating or eradicating discrimination, while advancing human and civils rights, in Howard County. The nomination deadline is August 15, 2021.
These awards celebrate courageous Howard County residents and organizations that work to serve our community through their tireless pursuit of advancing and defending human rights. We're looking to our residents to help us identify those in our community who have gone above and beyond and deserve to be recognized by the Howard County Human Rights Commission this year.

This year’s theme, “We Are More; Uplifting the Human Spirit,” speaks to the need for us to come together as a human family to create a better life for all people. The nomination form can be found online(link is external) or a hard copy can be requested by contacting the Office of Human Rights and Equity (OHRE) at 410-313-6430 or by emailing hrc@howardcountymd.gov. Self-nominations are accepted.
This past year, outstanding community members have stepped forward to serve, protect and stand in solidarity with residents in our county. These unsung heroes should be celebrated and acknowledged; therefore, I encourage you to nominate these individuals for a Human Rights Awards.

Winners will be recognized at the 2021 Human Rights Commission Awards Ceremony on October 19th at the Howard County Conservancy.
