WEST FRIENDSHIP, MD β€” A beautiful, powerful bird, the bald eagle soars high as a symbol of America. Despite its majesty, the bald eagle isn't invincible; it's a creature that's sadly at risk of being injured like any other bird.

Howard County PFC Charles Toler is accustomed to corralling criminals, but this week he saved a bald eagle. The injured bird was rescued from the park-and-ride located along Route 32 in West Friendship. The officer used a sweatshirt and a cardboard box to safely gather up the bird, which then was handed over to volunteers with a raptor and owl rescue who are tending to the bird.
