Storm Causes Widespread Damage Across Howard County
St. Johns Episcopal Church had two tents crushed in the storm while a resident had a tree go through her home.
HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Monday night's storm left a trail of debris across Howard County. A severe thunderstorm warning had been issued along with a flash flood warning. At 6:15 p.m. Monday, the National Weather Service's radar indicated thunderstorms had produced 1 to 3 inches of rain with more to come yet that night.
Andy Nellius told WMAR that all he could hear was "intense" wind.
"I’ve never been in a tornado before that was the closest thing. I didn’t hear trees crunching or anything," Nellius said.

His neighbor's huge tree actually fell down on the house. Another tree not only destroyed half of a homeowner's driveway but also hit a water main sending water across the yard. Nearby St. Johns Episcopal Church also had two of its large tents crushed in the storm.
Summer Allen, her boyfriend and their dog managed to escape their home after a tree went through it. But now they're homeless, she told FOX45 News.

"This is devastating. You hear the crack and you think oh it's lightning but then the crack kept going and I realize holy crap there's a big tree coming," Allen said. "We're staying hopeful. But it's completely crushed, everything, the floor of our bedroom is caved in."
