Tornado Warning Expires In Howard, Anne Arundel Counties

Two counties were under a tornado warning Thursday, which prompted some schools to delay dismissal.

A tornado warning for Howard and Anne Arundel counties expired after 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, May 30. Weather officials issued the warning after a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located 7 miles northeast of Olney at 3:21 p.m.

It was moving southeast at 40 mph, and radar indicated there was rotation, the National Weather Service reported.

Students in both Anne Arundel and Howard County public schools sheltered in place until after the tornado warning expired, officials advised.
