Weather Alerts Issued For Central MD Area Amid Storms
BREAKING: Flooding, wind and hail are potential threats with storms rolling through central Maryland, officials warn.
BALTIMORE, MD β A flash flood warning is in effect for parts of central Maryland Monday night. Flash flooding is a rapid rise in water level that can be life-threatening. A severe thunderstorm has been issued as well for parts of the state.
Creeks and streams, urban areas, streets, highways and underpasses may flood.
Drivers should turn around β don't drown β when they encounter flooded roads.

After 6:15 p.m., the National Weather Service said radar showed thunderstorms had produced 1 to 2 inches of rain, with another inch expected in the next hour in Baltimore City and Baltimore County, which are under a flash flood warning until 8:15 p.m.
Howard and Prince George's counties are also under a flash flood warning until 7:45 p.m., after radar showed 1 to 3 inches had fallen before 6 p.m., according to the National Weather Service, with another 1 to 2 inches of rain possible in the next hour.

Montgomery and Howard counties are under a flash flood watch until 10 p.m.
Severe Thunderstorm Warning: 60 MPH Wind, Hail
Baltimore City, Baltimore County and Harford County are under a severe thunderstorm warning until 7 p.m.
At 6:06 p.m., weather officials said radar showed a severe thunderstorm near Jarrettsville that was moving northeast at 40 mph with quarter-sized hail and 60 mph wind.
These areas may be impacted, according to the warning: Baltimore, Pikesville, Cockeysville, Towson, Randallstown, Parkville, Bel Air North, Carney, Milford Mill, Lochearn, Mays Chapel, Timonium, Fallston, Hampton, Jarrettsville, Lutherville-Timonium, Garrison, Lutherville, Long Green and Riderwood.
During the severe thunderstorm warning period, people should go inside to stay safe from wind and lightning. Do not drive underneath wooded areas until the threat has passed, as trees and branches may fall. Roads may become blocked by downed trees, and localized power outages are possible, according to the warning.
People should move to an interior room on the lowest level of a building to stay safe during the severe storms.
Earlier, radar showed a severe thunderstorm over Woodlawn that was moving northeast at 40 mph before 6 p.m. It had 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-sized hail, according to the warning
These areas may be impacted by the severe thunderstorm, officials said: Baltimore, Pikesville, Cockeysville, Elkridge, Historic Ellicott City, Ellicott City, Towson, Catonsville, Woodlawn, Randallstown, Parkville, Owings Mills, Carney, Milford Mill, Perry Hall, Lochearn, Arbutus, Mays Chapel, Timonium and Hampton.
