What's Open, Closed For Thanksgiving 2020 In Howard County

Wondering what's open and what isn't in Howard County for the Thanksgiving holiday?

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — County government offices, courts, the animal shelter, community centers, athletic centers, activity rooms, historic sites, 50+ centers and the Alpha Ridge Landfill will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday Thursday, Nov. 26. There will be no trash, recycling, yard trim or food scrap pick-up on Thanksgiving Day. The county’s holiday "slide” schedule will be in effect.

The landfill and county parks will reopen Friday; however, county government offices, courts, 50+ centers, historic sites and the animal shelter will remain closed and reopen Monday. The Regional Transportation Agency (RTA) buses will not run Thanksgiving Day, but will resume a regular weekday schedule on Friday. The 9-1-1 Center, police and fire departments remain staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For emergencies, call 9-1-1. For non-emergencies, please call 410-313-2200.
