Winter Storm Warning Issued For Howard County

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning calling for several inches of snow.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD β€” There could be up to 6 inches of snow on the ground by Monday morning in parts of Howard County, according to the National Weather Service. Due to the forecast, the agency issued a winter storm warning for some parts of Howard County and a winter weather advisory for others.

Northwest Howard County could get 3 to 6 inches of snow from noon Sunday to 4 a.m. Monday, according to the winter storm warning.

Precipitation may be mixed with sleet Sunday night, the National Weather Service warned.

In central and southeast Howard County, a winter weather advisory calls for 1 to 3 inches of snow and sleet from noon Sunday to 4 a.m. Monday.

According to the National Weather Service, precipitation will be steady Sunday afternoon and evening, and drivers should expect roads to be slippery.

These other areas are under separate winter storm warnings from noon Sunday to 4 a.m. Monday:

  • Northwest Howard and Montgomery counties β€” 3 to 6 inches of snow
  • Baltimore and Harford counties β€” 4 to 7 inches of snow
  • Carroll, Frederick and Washington counties β€” 4 to 8 inches of snow

A winter storm warning means that severe winter weather conditions are forecast.

Those going outside should watch for slippery or icy sidewalks, driveways, steps and roads.

Drivers should keep an extra flashlight as well as food and water in case of an emergency.
