Winter Weather Advisory Issued For Howard County

Roads may be icy and coated with snow Wednesday morning in Howard County, weather officials advise.

BALTIMORE, MD β€” Expect roads to be slick on Wednesday morning in Howard County. The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for several areas, including Howard County, from 2 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 27.

Light snow is likely, with accumulation from a coating up to 1 inch possible, weather officials advise.

Roads may be slippery and icy due to recently cold conditions. Drivers should allow themselves extra time on their morning commute.

People should use caution and be prepared for limited visibility, crashes and delays.

In addition to Howard County, the winter weather advisory includes Baltimore, Carroll, Frederick, Harford and Montgomery counties as well as parts of northern Virginia and the northwest D.C. suburbs.

Tips for driving on icy and snowy roads:

  • Don't slam on your brakes. If you're sliding on a patch of ice, turn into the skid.
  • Slow down.
  • Leave twice as much room as you normally would between you and other vehicles on the road.
