42nd Annual Essex Day Festival Returns September 17
The family-friendly event will feature live music, kids' zone, karaoke, vendors and more.

The Eastern Regional Lions Club is proud to present the 42nd Annual Essex Day Festival. This family-friendly event will be held on Sunday, September 17 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. along Eastern Boulevard from Mace Avenue to Woodward Avenue in the heart of Essex. Opening ceremonies will be held at Noon on the Main Stage.
Essex Day, organized by the New Essex Day Festival Association, a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization, will include entertainment on three stages, including a full schedule of live bands; kiddie karaoke contest; a kids’ zone with children’s activities; costumed characters; free tours of the Heritage Society of Essex and Middle River Museum; arts and crafts, novelty, sports, and food vendors; nonprofit organizations; local businesses and more.
“We are really excited about this year’s Essex Day Festival,” said Angel Ball, Sponsorship Chair. “We have a great amount of interest from vendors this year, and our entertainment lineup is really coming together. Essex Day is the best place to highlight local businesses, since we get thousands of visitors each year who come to our community to enjoy this family-friendly event. We are still in need of sponsors to help support our efforts.”

Essex day began in 1975 as “Super Sunday” with the purpose of raising funds for restoration of the historic Ballestone-Stansbury House. After the restoration was complete, the goal of Essex Day was to help showcase the businesses along Eastern Boulevard and now has become the staple of Essex. Every year, unpaid officials and volunteers of all ages help in making this event a success.
