Aviation Museum Offers Aviation STEAM Summer Camp Programs

Aviation Summer Camp Programs are educational, interactive and memorable.

For summer camp directors in search of fun field trip experiences, the Glenn L. Martin Maryland Aviation Museum located at Martin State Airport in Middle River, MD, a fun and unique destination located in the suburbs of eastern Baltimore County, will give campers a “wow!” moment with aviation while they are discovering the sciences of flight and aviation heritage of Maryland. The Museum’s Education Team provides engaging educational field trip experiences for campers in grades 1 to 8. A class visit to the Museum and its exhibits will have campers soaring with the excitement of flight and taking pride in Maryland's contributions to aviation history. Housed within an historic 1940's World War II hangar in Middle River, the Museum offers the exhibit tour "From Wind Wagons to Rockets" and also programs supporting STEM, history, geography, economics and manufacturing.

The interactive STEAM program for middle school camp groups, "The B 26 Aircraft Assembly Team Project", engages participants in assembling, as a team, a student life size model of a B26 Martin Marauder, an iconic aircraft built by the Glenn L. Martin Company in Middle River during World War II.

For the elementary grades the Museum offers the interactive STEM program "It's Rocket Science", a one hour program during which campers receive a presentation on the forces and principles of flight, Maryland’s role in space history, and then students build paper rockets for launching on the Museum’s Rocket Launcher.
