Cheerleading: Kenwood, Eastern Tech Shine at Winter Cheerfest
Bluebirds, Mavericks advance to regional competition on Wednesday at C. Milton Wright.
Kenwood’s cheerleading team continued its impressive season by besting 24 other teams en route to winning the Winter Cheerfest this weekend at the Community College of Baltimore County Dundalk.
Kenwood won the competition with 121.9 points, less than two points ahead of second-place Eastern Tech.
Following Kenwood and Eastern Tech were Franklin and Hereford, which placed third and fourth, respectively. The top four teams advance to the regional competition on Wednesday at C. Milton Wright.

Near the end of the three-hour competition on Saturday, all of the seniors were recognized, including Kenwood seniors Lindsay Blackmon, Alyssa Jackson, Brandy Leach, Jennifer Martin, Tavianna Mendoza, Amber Sherrod and Brittney Waugh. Â
Also at the competition, Eastern Tech coach Melissa Wells was recognized as Baltimore County coach of the year as voted by her peers.
