Eastern Tech Baseball Wins Third Straight

The Mavericks scored eight runs over the final four innings in an 11-3 victory over Franklin.

Pitcher Chris Hook allowed three runs —none earned— on two hits and struck out seven and walked five over six innings as won 11-3 Tuesday at .

Shortstop Neil Westdorp went 3-for-5 with a double, triple, two RBIs and two runs scored for Eastern Tech (7-6), which has won three straight since losing five of its previous six games.

Outfielder Jimmy Szamski went 2-for-4 with two RBIs while first baseman Shane Mizelle went 2-for-3 and drove in two runs for the Mavericks.

Eastern Tech hosts Parkville at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Kenwood Boys Lacrosse:  Junior attack Nick Eliadis scored 5 goals to lead the Bluebirds, but a difficult fourth quarter proved to be the difference in an 11-9 loss to visiting on Tuesday in Essex.

Senior attack Jordan Boller added scored three goals and had five assists for (9-2), which led 9-6 before Owings Mills scored the game’s final five goals. Jordan Summerfield scored 3 goals and added 2 assists to lead the Golden Eagles.

Kenwood next plays at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday at Patapsco.

Eastern Tech Boys Lacrosse: Senior attack Hunter Oleszczuk scored three goals and junior attack Charles Rice had three assists as the Mavericks lost 14-6 to at Eastern Regional Park.

Junior attack Bobby Walsh scored two goals and goalie Wyatt Almond had 14 saves for Eastern Tech (5-6), which next plays at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at .

Eastern Tech Softball: Sophomore pitcher Jordan Cargile allowed no runs on one hit and struck out five  as the Mavericks defeated Towson, 18-0, in a game halted after five innings.

Junior Laura Thacker had a triple and a homerun and five RBIs while freshman Jen January went 3-for-3 with two homeruns and four RBIs for the Mavericks (13-2), who have won seven straight.

Also for Eastern Tech, Cargile went 2-for-4 with a triple and drove in four runs and senior Allison Williams went 4-for-4 in the win.

Eastern Tech next plays at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday when it hosts Sparrows Point.
