Kenwood Athletes Announce College Plans
Denesha Tatum has signed to play women's basketball at Virginia Union while Rayven Ray will join the indoor track team at CCBC Essex.

Two athletes have recently announced their college intentions.
On Thursday, Bluebird senior track and field star Rayven Ray signed to join CCBC Essex, a week after girls basketball player Denesha Tatum signed a National Letter of Intent at Division II Virginia Union.

Ray is a multi-dimensional athlete who is among Kenwood’s top runners and jumpers. She recently broke the school record in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.14 seconds.

She enters Saturday’s at Kenwood ranked first in Baltimore County, 4A North Region and the 4A state rankings in the high jump after clearing 5 feet, 4 inches this spring, coach Mark Planamente said.
was a driving force for Kenwood this past winter in helping lead the Bluebirds to the program’s first winning record in a decade. The 6-foot-1 forward averaged 12 points, 11 rebounds, two steals and two blocks a game while helping lead Kenwood to a 13-8 record.
KENWOOD BOYS LACROSSE: Senior attack Jordan Boller scored three goals and had three assists as the Bluebirds cruised to a 17-1 victory over Edgewood.
Also, Jason Alvey scored a team-high four goals while goalie Ben Runk had four saves for Kenwood (9-1). The Bluebirds go after their eighth straight win when they host at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
EASTERN TECH SOFTBALL: Sophomore pitcher Jordan Cargile struck out eight and allowed one hit as the Mavericks defeated Owings Mills 16-0 in a game halted after five innings.
Cargile also had a solid day at the plate as she went 3-for-4 with a home run, a triple and three RBIs. Also, senior first baseman Lauren Channell went 3-for-4 with a homerun and two RBIs while junior outfielder Corrin Cromwell went 2-for-2 with a triple for Eastern Tech (11-2).
Eastern Tech next plays at 3:45 p.m. Friday at .
EASTERN TECH BASEBALL: Â Shortstop Neil Westdorp and second baseman Andy Szamski each drove in three runs as the Mavericks defeated Pikesville, 14-0, in a game halted after five innings.
Infielder Chuck Trentler went 3-for-3 and drove in two runs for Eastern Tech (5-6), which scored eight runs in the first two innings and never looked back.
Pitcher Shane Mizelle allowed just one hit, struck out six and walked three over five innings for the Mavericks, who have won two of their last three games after losing its previous four in a row.
Eastern Tech next plays at 3:45 p.m. Friday when it hosts Hereford.
