OLMC Alumni – Where are they now?
OLMC Graduates have enjoyed their years there and have moved forward with education and community participation.
Our Lady of Mount Carmel School (OLMC) is preparing to host an Open House on Sunday, January 29 as Catholic Schools Week begins. With students attending from around the Baltimore beltway and even some from Baltimore City as well as Harford County, it is interesting to note where some of the alumni are now.
One such alum is local community advocate, Kevin McDonough. He graduated from Our Lady of Mount Carmel School in the class of 2012; and, from Stevenson University in 2016. He is the vice president of the Rockaway Beach/Turkey Point Community Association, after serving on their board in other positions for the past several years. McDonough is diligent in maintaining contact throughout the Essex/Middle River area, keeping contact with other local community associations. He has also served on committees for such annual events as Essex Day and the Middle River Fireworks held at the Eastern Yacht Club. It’s not unusual to see Kevin at the Heritage Museum of Essex Middle River too. McDonough has also organized at least two fabulous “history luncheons” to encourage local residents to learn about the history of their community.
“I very much enjoyed my time at OLMC and look back on a ton of fond memories, wonderful people and great experiences. Mount Carmel not only successfully prepared me for college but it instilled in me the importance of giving of yourself to help others, which has become an integral part of who I am,” said McDonough when asked his opinion about attending a local Catholic school.

Like many of his fellow graduates, McDonough graduated having already earned several college credits. He also had scholarship money to help pay for college – not unusual for most Mount Carmel graduates.
As OLMC prepares to host this year’s first Open House event, McDonough also shared some thought to students in middle school as they prepare to make their high school choices. He said,

“I encourage them to look at Our Lady of Mount Carmel.” McDonough admits that he felt “at home in an environment that was welcoming, caring, and like a family. Mount Carmel was the right fit for me and made my high school experience one that was memorable and that helped to prepare me for my future because of the great education.” He says he received “individual attention and motivation from the teachers and staff there to be the best me I could be!”
During his years at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, McDonough was enrolled in the National Honor Society. He served on committees for Campus Ministry and Yearbook. He is also proud to be the founder and first Program Coordinator of the Student Ambassador Program. He frequently volunteered at various events and was someone who was always doing something to keep busy.
McDonough gives a lot of credit to his education at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School for making him the strong, community-minded man he has become.
