The remodeled and expanded store will now be open 24 hours and has a full line of groceries, including a bakery, a deli, meat and dairy products section and fresh produce.

"This [reopening] doesn't represent the end, but just the continuation of a journey that began almost 10 years ago to the day at this store," store manager Scott Bonsall said.

Bonsall said the 16 months it took to complete the project definitely took its toll on him and many employees, who dealt with limited parking spaces, merchandise being constantly shifted and construction going on all around them while they tried to keep it business as usual.

For the most part, Bonsall said, the store managed to do just that.

Among the accomplishments of the store over the last year, the Rosedale Walmart reached 99.7 percent of its sales plan and ranked seventh in sales among all Walmarts along the Eastern Seaboard, despite the construction, Bonsall said.

As part of Wednesday's ceremony, Walmart also announced it will donate $5,000 to the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation, with the money going toward building a new baseball facility for youth in the Park Heights community of Baltimore City.

The combination of generosity, along with providing jobs to the community, impressed Del. Eric Bromwell and state Sen. Kathy Klausmeier, who each spoke at the event.

According to Walmart figures, the Rosedale store, along with the newly reopened , will now employ approximately 300 workers, with 170 positions being created by the stores' expansion.

"This is what we look for from businesses in the community," Bromwell said.
