SHREK is in Essex!
Great talent! Lots of fun and laughs. SHREK is at Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Don't miss it. Last three shows this weekend!
The Our Lady of Mount Carmel Players is an awesome troupe of actors – very talented and some also very dedicated to Our Lady of Mount Carmel School. Some of the actors have been in almost every show ever produced on the stage in the high school gym. On the other hand, new-comers arrive such as Tyler Simmons who plays Shrek in their 2017 production by that same name.
There are the perennials… those that return year after year, play after play such as Marty Deady. He is a talented actor, good singer and has just the right personality to fit such parts as Joseph in the play “Joseph, Coat of Many Colors” or the Candlestick in “Beauty and the Beast,” and of course is just right as Donkey in this year’s production of Shrek.
Deady brings much more to the stage than just his own talent! Yes, it is a family affair. His wife, Jamie, captured the starring role of Princess Fiona. The family talent doesn’t stop there. Apparently inheriting a bit of talent and the love for the stage from his father, Connor was the smallest of “The Three Pigs,” and this wasn’t this young man’s first play.

The play’s director has also been able to take advantage of having many talented students eager for an opportunity to be on stage, behind the scenes and part of the host of folks that it takes to produce a stage production. Our Lady of Mount Carmel School has a pre-school learning center for 2-3-4 year olds, and has classes beginning with kindergarten through the twelfth grade. Stage crew and props staff also include students and parents as well as local residents. Students of all ages are often found somewhere on stage!
Some tickets are still available for this weekend’s final three performances as follows:
Friday and Saturday, March 17 and 18. Show time is 8PM.
Sunday on March 19. Show time is 2 PM.
