Softball: Eastern Tech Wins Region Title

The Mavericks scored once in the first inning and three more in the bottom of the fourth to rally back and defeat North Harford, 4-2, in the Class 3A North regional finals Friday in Essex.

Sophomore pitcher Jordan Cargile allowed two runs and six hits and struck out six in the win for Eastern Tech, which trailed 2-1 after three innings.

Freshman Jen January and senior l each went 1-for-3 with two RBIs each while Brianna Casper went 2-for-3 for Eastern Tech (22-2), which has won 16 straight games.

Eastern Tech now advances to the Class 3A state semifinals, where it will play 3A West region champion Linganore at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bachman Park in Glen Burnie. Linganore advanced with a 10-0 win Friday over Urbana.
