Man Takes Plea Deal After Fatal Fallston Crash: Report

Driver of Jeep involved in fatal hit and run would not have been charged had he stayed at scene, state's attorney reportedly said.

BEL AIR, MD – The Bel Air man facing several charges in the crash that killed a Fallston man walking with a snowblower last year has reportedly accepted a plea deal.

For pleading guilty to leaving the scene of a fatal crash, 24-year-old Kenneth Borys could receive a year and a day in jail, according to Fox 45.

Borys, of the 300 block of Locust Lane, is charged with failure to stop his vehicle and remain at the scene of a collision, failure to immediately stop his vehicle at the scene, failure as the driver involved in an accident to render aid, failure to stop after an accident involving damage and failure to stop his vehicle and remain at scene of accident involving bodily injury, police said.

The charges stem from a collision that police said occurred at approximately 7 p.m. on March 5, 2015, resulting in the death of Christian Widomski.

Widomski, 44, was walking with his neighbor’s snow blower when he was fatally hit by a vehicle in front of his home in the 2800 block of Harford Road in Fallston, police said.

The suspect vehicle, a distinctive Jeep, left the scene.

Investigators spent ”hundreds of hours” working to find the vehicle and driver before arresting Borys on Sept. 30, 2015, Maryland State Police reported.

Harford County State’s Attorney Joseph Cassilly said that Borys had “no criminal liability” in the death of Widomski, who was walking on a road that was not lit while wearing dark-colored clothing, Fox 45 reported.

In fact, Cassilly told The Aegis that if Borys had remained at the scene, “he probably would not be charged with anything.”

Sentencing is scheduled for March.
