Annual Art Exhibition Returns To Kentlands Mansion

The annual juried art exhibition returns to Kentlands Mansion on May 3. Meet the artists at a free reception on May 9.

From The City of Gaithersburg: Arts on the Green presents the annual juried art exhibition of the Gaithersburg Fine Arts Association (GFAA) at Kentlands Mansion, May 3 through July 7, 2019. The public is invited to meet the artists at a free reception on Thursday, May 9 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

This year’s exhibit was juried by Jean Hirons, a nationally recognized pastelist who is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America and a member of the Master Circle of the International Association of Pastel Societies. Jean also holds signature membership in the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod and the Maryland Pastel Society. Her artwork has been featured in many national and international juried shows and is internationally collected. In addition to being a practicing artist, Jean teaches pastel at her studio at Artists and Makers in Rockville. She is the author of the well-received pastel instruction book,Finding Your Style in Pastel.

The GFAA provides a forum for members to collaborate on activities that expand on their individual artistic backgrounds, with emphasis on two-dimensional art. The group provides educational programs, promotional opportunities and outreach to local audiences and the broader artistic community. The group’s limited scope allows for intense dedication to the classical mediums of the arts. Members work in 2D format executed in, but not exclusively, oils, acrylic, pastel, watercolor, drawing media, and various mixed media. More information can be found at www.gaithersburgfinearts.org.
