Bear With Milk Can On Its Head Stuck in Woods

Maryland wildlife experts had to tranquilize a male black bear that had its head stuck inside a metal milk can.

Maryland wildlife experts were called to rescue a black bear with its head stuck in a metal milk can.

A resident near Cunningham Falls State Park north of Frederick called wildlife officials Monday morning to report the bear’s dilemma. When rescuers arrived, the bear was lying down with the jug on its head, reports The Washington Post.

Department of Natural Resources spokeswoman Karis King says the wildlife response team helped free an adult male black bear that weighed 175 to 200 pounds.

King told WTOP that workers tranquilized the bear – who was calm – as a safety precaution before removing the can. Workers used a handsaw on the milk can to loosen it so they could pull the jug off.

The department tweeted a photo of the sleepy bear after it was tranquilized before experts freed the animal.
