GAITHERSBURG, MD — The Benjamin Gaither Center in Gaithersburg is poised to reopen for members next month, more than a year after the city instituted shutdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The facility, located at 80A Bureau Drive, offers a variety of classes, trips, special events, and activities to members aged 55 and above. It has been closed since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, although virtual programming and some socially distanced outdoor activities have been available to members throughout.

To help curb the spread of COVID-19, the center will reopen with limited hours and amenities, starting Monday, June 14. It will not be open for drop-in use and the daily lunch program will still be suspended, according to city officials. In addition, seniors will be required to leave after their scheduled meeting, class, or activity.
