Black History Month: Montgomery Parks Releases Schedule Of Events
Montgomery Parks is offering a host of programs in honor of Black History Month.
GAITHERSBURG, MD — Montgomery Parks is celebrating Black History Month with a host of programs that showcase the stories, successes, and struggles of African Americans.
"While many of our historic sites remain closed to the public in compliance with county COVID-19 precautions, we are pleased to be able to continue our tradition of sharing the important history and extraordinary contributions of African Americans through virtual programming," said Shirl Spicer of Montgomery Parks. "Hopefully, these events will spark individuals to further engage and explore their local history."

- Feb. 3, 7 p.m. - Myths and Legends of the Underground Railroad (virtual lecture)
- Feb. 10, 7 p.m. - Redeeming Uncle Tom: The Josiah Henson Story (virtual screening)
- Feb. 18, 6:30 p.m. - The Black Family: Representation, Identity, and Diversity | Genealogy Workshop (virtual workshop)
- Feb. 24, 7 p.m. - Time Team America: The Search for Josiah Henson (virtual screening)
- Feb. 25, 2 p.m. - Josiah Henson Museum & Park Black History Month Panel Discussion & Musical Performance (virtual program)
