City of Gaithersburg Announces Independence Day Road Closures
The announcement came Friday, June 24.

From the City of Gaithersburg:
In observance of Independence Day, all city facilities will be closed on Monday, July 4 with the exception of the following: the miniature golf course (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.), the water park (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.), which is exclusive to city residents and aquatics members on July 4, and the skate park (3-11 p.m.)
The curb lane from S. Summit Ave. to W. Deer Park Rd. will be eliminated in both the north and southbound directions from 4 p.m. until midnight. No stopping or standing will be allowed on South Frederick Rd. during this same time. All crossovers on S. Frederick Ave. from Cedar Ave. to Central Ave. will be closed from 4 p.m. until midnight. All traffic must make right hand turns only to access South Frederick Rd.

Traffic exiting the Olde Towne parking facilities after the event will be directed as to how and where to exit the area. South Summit Ave. will be closed at Hutton Street and at Olde Towne Avenue from 9-11 p.m. Travelers should expect delays up and down the Frederick Rd. corridor and are encouraged to drive slowly and watch for pedestrians.
The City of Gaithersburg announces that the collection of recycled materials for residents whose regular recycling day is Monday, July 4 will take place on the preceding Saturday, July 2. This includes newspaper, mixed paper, corrugated cardboard and commingled materials as well as brush, branches, grass clippings, leaves and other yard trimmings, picked up by the city’s recycling contractor. Bulk pickup items will be collected the following Monday, July 11.

Regular trash and garbage collection for City residents is handled by private contractors. Residents must contact their HOA or private contractor regarding the holiday collection schedule for these materials.
