Fall Preschool, Family Classes At Arts Barn: How To Enroll
Fall Pre-K and family classes at the Arts Barn begin Sept. 25. Here's a list of available workshops and information on how to enroll.
GAITHERSBURG, MD — Got a budding young artist in the family? Now's your chance to enroll your kid in art and music classes for the fall season in Montgomery County. One such place offering workshops for tots is the Arts Barn — Gaithersburg's performing and visual arts center.
The autumn session begins Wednesday, Sept. 25. The activities listed below are for young kids, accompanied by their parent or guardian. Registration information can be found under "In the Studio" tab at gaithersburgmd.gov/AOTG.
Music Makers is for ages 15 months to 4 years old. Ms. Sandy from Little Hands leads children in singing, dancing, playing instruments and creative play. Each season brings a new theme to inspire the activities. Food is the theme this autumn. No eating is involved, but music and creative play will involve items found in the kitchen. Wednesdays at 10:15 a.m.

Art from Nature is for ages 3 – 5. Stuti Khanna with Phõõl Bloom will be showing how to create art using elements from nature. When the weather permits, students will be able to gather materials from the surrounding neighborhood. Mondays at 11:15 a.m.
Preschool Drawing is for ages 3 – 5. Young Rembrandts helps preschoolers develop skills to draw increasingly complex images. Following a step-by-step method, students develop observational skills, increase fine motor skills, handwriting readiness and attention to detail. Thursdays at 10 a.m.
Artful Saturdays is for ages 3 – 5. Jaree Donnelly with Arts Entwine leads this popular class that uses a variety of mediums to help children discover colors and shapes while developing fine motor skills and expanding creativity. Each week brings a new theme. Saturdays at 3:30 p.m.
Family Workshops are for ages 3 & up. These are fun, hour-long workshops held on a monthly basis with projects inspired by a theme. The complexity of the projects may be adjusted to the age. Upcoming workshops include:

- Thankful for Autumn, Sunday, November 3 at 1 p.m. Projects will be related to Thanksgiving.
- 'Tis Better to Give, Sunday, December 8 at 1 p.m. Projects will be for holiday gift giving.
A special Snowflakes & Icicles family workshop for ages 8 and up takes place on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. Caryn Yuen will demonstrate how to make fantastic, giant paper snowflakes and icicles.
