Fireworks Near Me: Gaithersburg's 4th Of July 2021

Gaithersburg's traditional Fourth of July events may be canceled, but there are several other ways you can celebrate Independence Day.

GAITHERSBURG, MD — Although coronavirus cases continue to drop across the country while the number of those who are fully vaccinated continues to rise, many Independence Day celebrations have once again been canceled, modified or will be held virtually due to the pandemic.

Gaithersburg’s fireworks have been canceled for this year and Montgomery County will not be hosting fireworks, according to a Parks Department representative.

Gaithersburg's fireworks, parades and 5K events may have been canceled, but they have been replaced with a Red, White & Blue Virtual Photo Parade, Paint Gaithersburg Red, White & Blue, Tasty Books: Apple Pie 4th of July + A BBQ Food Truck at the Casey Farmers Market and Moonlight Movies at the Mansion: Independence Day, Red, White, and Blueberry Tart - Virtual Let's Cook@Casey Class. July 4 Festivities

What: Howard County’s July 4th Fireworks
Where: Downtown Columbia Lakefront at Lake Kittamaqundi in Columbia, Maryland
When: July 4, 2021, beginning around 9:20 p.m.
Residents can place blankets out to watch the fireworks beginning at 3 p.m. The 22-minute show will be the sole attraction at this Fourth of July celebration — there will not be any food trucks or performances this year.

What: Frederick's 4th of July
Where: Frederick Fairgrounds, 797 E. Patrick Street
When: Sunday, July 4 from 4 p.m. to dusk
You can watch the fireworks from your car. The 99.WFRE "Parking Lot Party" will include performances and food trucks. The parking lot party is $50, but the fireworks display is free.

What: National Mall fireworks
Where: National Mall, from both sides of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool
When: Sunday, July 4, starting at 9:09 p.m.
The National Park service said that all memorials, except for the Washington Monument, will be open during the fireworks. People who are unvaccinated are required to wear masks inside and in crowded outdoor areas. The display is expected to last for 17 minute.

What: Capitol Fourth concert
Where: PBS
When: Airs Sunday, July 4 at 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
This pre-recorded concert will feature Jimmy Buffett, Gladys Knight, Alan Jackson, Jennifer Nettles and Renée Fleming. PBS will air the National Mall fireworks at the conclusion of the concert.
