Gaithersburg Liquor Store Closes After Worker Gets COVID-19

A Montgomery County-run liquor store in Gaithersburg is temporarily closed after an employee tests positive for COVID-19.

GAITHERSBURG, MD — The Muddy Branch Liquor and Wine store in Gaithersburg is temporarily closed after an employee tested positive for COVID-19, Montgomery County officials said.

The county's Alcohol Beverage Services (ABS) was made aware of the positive test on Thursday, according to a press release, and the store was closed immediately. The employee's last day at work was Wednesday.

"The safety of our employees and shoppers is our top priority. We want customers to feel confident they are shopping in a safe environment," the press release stated. "Before reopening a specialized team will be brought in to disinfect the store. This deep cleaning involves chemical fogging and manual wiping down of all products and high contact surfaces in the store."

County officials have not announced a tentative reopening date for the store, which is located at 866 Muddy Branch Rd.
