Gaithersburg Man Shot To Death, Second-Degree Murder Charge Filed
A Glen Burnie man has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Darius Cooper, who was killed at his Gaithersburg apartment.

GAITHERSBURG, MD — A Glen Burnie man has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of 25-year-old Darius Cooper, who was found shot at his Gaithersburg apartment complex in January.
The Montgomery County Police Department said they arrested Jakel Delante Stone, 31, on Tuesday in Anne Arundel County. Stone is being held without bond, the police said.
Police said they responded to 911 calls reporting a gunshot at an apartment complex in the unit block of South Frederick Avenue in Gaithersburg in January. They found Cooper with a gunshot wound and he was taken to a hospital, where he died, according to police.

According to Montgomery County Police, witnesses said they saw Cooper fighting with another person in the parking lot shortly before they heard the gunshot and saw the other person run away.
A medical examiner determined it was a homicide and the cause of death was the gunshot, police said.
