The city of Gaithersburg released the following news:

Gaithersburg Police Foundation Fundraiser Set for May 14

The Gaithersburg Police Foundation will hold its 5th annual fundraising event at Dogfish Head Alehouse, located at 800 West Diamond Avenue in Gaithersburg, on Tuesday May 14, 2013 from 11:30 a.m. until 10 p.m.

Dogfish Head Alehouse will donate 15 percent of that day’s proceeds to the Gaithersburg Police Foundation. The public is encouraged to drop by for a fun time, good food and an opportunity to meet the members of the Gaithersburg Police Department and the Gaithersburg Police Foundation, who will be on hand throughout the day.

City Celebrates 100 Years of Peony Garden

In commemoration of the centennial anniversary of the Schwartz Peony Garden, the City of Gaithersburg presents the at the Gaithersburg Community Museum.

In honor of artistry, history, and horticulture, the Community Museum will recognize the contributions of local artists during the celebration with a silent auction featuring artistic interpretations of peonies by members of the Harmonious Art Group and the Gaithersburg Fine Arts Association and other local artists. All attendees are invited to vote on their favorite piece, with the winning artwork being incorporated into a commemorative ornament marking the garden’s centennial anniversary. Contributing artists include Elise Chang, Amy Quach, Joan Reynolds, Lynne Rychlec, and Joanne Wood.

Gaithersburg Miniature Golf Course Opens for Season May 4

Gaithersburg invites you to “Come Play a Round” on its beautifully landscaped miniature golf course, located at Bohrer Park at Summit Hall Farm. The course is open weekends May 4 through June 14, daily June 15 through Aug. 25, and weekends only again Aug. 26 through Oct. 13. 

The park opens at 11 a.m., and closing hours vary from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. depending on the day of the week and the season. Please note that the park will close at 7 p.m. on Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day. Play must start one hour prior to posted closing time.

Rates per game are just $5 for Gaithersburg residents and $6 for nonresidents. Unlimited play is $2 more. Discounts apply for Senior Citizens.

Shop and Save at Gaithersburg’s Outdoor Baby Bazaar

Great shopping opportunities are just around the corner at the Gaithersburg Outdoor Baby Bazaar on Saturday, May 11, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Montgomery County Agricultural Center, located at 16 Chestnut Street in Gaithersburg.

Admission is free to the public. Come discover great deals on gently-used or new baby and children’s merchandise, including clothes, shoes, toys, games, strollers, and bedding. General flea market items will also be available.
