Gaithersburg Presents 'Books Alive! At Constitution Gardens'
Participants should bring a blanket for a picnic lunch to enjoy in the park for free.

From The City of Gaithersburg: The City of Gaithersburg introduces “Books Alive! at Constitution Gardens,” a new preschool program featuring theater, storytelling, music, and crafts that celebrate literacy, the natural world and Gaithersburg’s unique history. Programs take place on Fridays, June 23, July 21 and August 4 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. This program is recommended for ages seven and younger. Bring a blanket and picnic lunch and stay after the program to enjoy the unique nature play space. Admission is free.
A Musical Adaption of SPINKY SULKS - June 23
The Shady Grove Middle School Drama Club, in partnership with local author and composer Steven Sellers Lapham, presents “A Musical Adaption of SPINKY SULKS,” based on William Steig’s children’s book. Spinky gets into a super pouty bad mood that goes on and on until finally he's tired of it but can't figure out how to reverse it.

MiMi Zannino - July 21
Explore Constitution Gardens with a treasure hunt and storytelling by educator, performing artist and author MiMi Zannino. Meet at the Lost Library to enjoy a reading of “Butterfly Surprise,” written and enhanced with photography by MiMi. After the story, make a butterfly craft, sing and dance to ukulele music, and end the adventure with an interactive nature walk through the Garden.

Eve Burton and The Twinbrook Tellers - August 4
Enjoy tall-tales, folktales, literary stories, real-life adventures, and poems with Eve Burton and The Twinbrook Tellers of the Dogwood Dogs 4H Club. Eve and the Twinbrook Tellers, storytellers ages eight to eighteen, tell stories and poems the old-fashioned way, with no books or props in hand.
Constitution Gardens is located at 112 Brookes Avenue in Olde Towne and integrates natural components for structured and unstructured play and learning. The unique nature play space celebrates the past, present and future of Gaithersburg, weaving together threads of sustainability with elements inspired by the cultural, economic and natural history of the area. It’s also home to reading circle with an oversized chair and little library boxes. Feel free to take a book or leave a book at your leisure.
