Gaithersburg Residents Invited To Name New 9.5-Acre Park
The City of Gaithersburg is seeking suggestions for the name of a new park being built on Darnestown Road.
GAITHERSBURG, MD — The City of Gaithersburg is building a new park at the former Consumer Product Safety Commission site, and residents are invited to suggest names for consideration.
The new park, located at 10901 Darnestown Rd., will span 9.5 acres and feature community, gardens, a playground, a bicycle skills course, fitness and picnic pods, pavilions, and a welcome plaza.
Residents can submit name suggestions here through Dec. 7. A park naming committee made up of city staff members will review all suggestions and select three to submit to the mayor and city council for their final determination.

The committee reserves the right to select a name based on:
- Geographical location
- i.e., street names, subdivision name, adjacent school name
- Historical significance
- The passing of an active contributor(s) to the community
